SKATE PARK OF TAMPA: Skatepark of Tampa’s infamous Moat has earned legendary recognition through the traditional ”Moat Race” at the Annual Tampa Am and Tampa Pro. Although stories vary on the origin of the “Race,” it is rumored that Clyde Singleton used to regularly throw chicken bones into the murky waters to feed the The Moat’s original inhabitant, the turtle. Although The Moat has been the receptor of diesel run-off and human blood for the last 15 years, it still threatens to flood Skatepark with every Tampa-style torrential downpour. The colors of the Moat-Inspired Dunk Mid, chosen by Barak Wiser and to be released on 4/25/08, truly tell the story of The Moat. By the way, this shoe does not smell anywhere near as bad.

Number 34 aka Vincent Edward “Bo” Jackson was an all-American football and baseball player at Auburn University where he won the Heisman trophy in 1985 after completing a stellar year on the grid iron racking up 1,786 rushing yards. That same year Bo put up crazy numbers between the lines on the diamond as well batting .401 with 17 home runs and 43 RBI’s.
Bo was the first player selected overall in the 1986 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Bo’s desire to be a professional Major League Baseball player would lead him to reject the Buccaneers’ five-year contract offer and sit out the 1986-87 football season. Instead, Bo opted to join the Kansas City Royals who were the defending 1985 World Series champions. He would spend most of the 1986 season honing his skills in the minor leagues with the Memphis Chicks before being called up to the majors in 1987, where he would rack up 22 home runs, 53 RBIs and 10 stolen bases while playing the outfield for the royals.
On draft day 1987 the Bucs forfeited their rights to Bo since he had not signed a contract and his name was thrown back into the draft poll. Bo was selected in the 7th round of the ‘87 draft by the Silver and Black (Oakland Raiders) as the 183rd overall pick. Al Davis, the once visionary Raiders owner, believed in Bo’s dual sport capabilities and supported his baseball career and allowed Bo to do him on the diamond while allowing Bo to ball part-time on the grid iron until his baseball seasons were completed.
One of 34’s most memorable performances as a Raider was during a Monday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 30, 1987 (his 25th born day) in which he rushed for 221-yard. In this game we would witness 34 barrel over the Seahawks star linebacker Brian Bosworth, who had earlier talked mega trash during a media event and had promised to contain Bo. Learning the hard way after having the snot knocked out of him, Bosworth soon realized that containment was not in Bo’s vocab.
Later in this same game, Bo broke a run to the outside, got on his hop and sprinted down the sideline at full speed for a 91-yard TD while continuing into the entrance of the tunnel leading to the locker rooms! As a result of his athletic prowess 34 received a nice endorsement contract from Nike and became a part of Nike’s late 80’s / early 90’s Just Do It ad campaign. The series of TV commercials that featured 34 and his infamous Cross Trainer kicks came to be known as the “Bo Knows” ad campaign.
Check this commercial released in ‘90:
Nice shoes, Bo! And, if you happen to have a pair of these on stash, you may want to check for that PX Knows tee. PX KNOWS 34!!!!
The bwoy Colin Munroe is a Canadian born producer / writer who has worked with a list of Hip-Hop, R&B and other acclaimed artists. After working behind the scenes for a good minute, the young homie stepped up to the mic and decided to do his own thang-thang as a solo artist. And, his rendition of Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” titled “I Want Those Flashing Lights” is sure to be burning up the airwaves here in the states in a quick minute. The video concept is fiery and the wordplay is pure motivation 101!
A couple of wise men once told me and my brothers that Enthusiasm and Perseverance wins the game every time. To the stars!
In the era of patent leather P’s and many other similar types of casual kicks, it’s refreshing to see one of the 80’s players step back on the scene and murder it. Simple and clean, the Fila Centre Courts are a throw back to the days of Sergio Tacchini / Fila velour track suits, truck jewels hangin’ from ones wrist and neck, Saab 900s’ with the BBS chromes and low profile shoes on, and the Alpine system tuned into 98.7 KISS FM on a Friday night knockin’ Red Alert while breezing across 1-45th. B new off the shelf these jawns offer a vintage / aged look that will rock well present day with a pair of crushed linens, khakis or denims. But, to my OG’s, feel free to bring them velours back out…

I am not really a huge fan of the fusion series with AF1 and AJ, but the Air Jordan Force III slated to drop on September 6, 2008, will be owned by yours truly. I guess for me it’s simply a matter of “do they look right?” It’s cool to have different looks with the whole fusion deal, but be careful not to put something out just because you can even though it looks like hot garbage…with that said, the AJF3 combined with the original color way of the AJ3 just looks right. Judge for yourself.

I don’t know where my hatred for the blatant salesperson comes from and it never mattered what you sold. The vacuum dude, the person selling me the 177 piece knife set…..whatever. This commercial comes from sometime in the 80’s and everything I hate about those blatant salespeople types is summed up in the commercial
Knowing there is a problem as your going through your shtick and trying to play it off
Peep how after it happens his voice totally changes (:46 mark) you know my man is in pain
I remember when my friends and I first saw the movie the warriors we were all like “This is crazy” Dudes wearing all sorts of leather vests, spiked wristbands, Indian wrist bands with strings attached, ill big hats, headbands (You get the picture or you know if you saw the movie) But as time went on I used to always watch the flick and keep saying to myself this is Hollywood’s interpretation of Gangs in NY. No way heads wore that in NY. But as I stumbled across some vids it is clear to me how dudes got down back in the 70’s.
I don’t know where to start. The babies hanging from the lamp post, the ill music like it’s a horror flick, dudes’ jumping from a car then to a truck….The Bronx was definitely on some ish in the 70’s. Actually these are video snippets from a documentary entitiled “80 Blocks from Tiffany’s” that came out in 79. It hasn’t been released on DVD as of yet but if you search and still have that VHS connected to your 42 in plasma you can find it. But be prepared to pay a little something due to it’s limited availability.
On a history note DJ Kool Herc said these dudes eventually came together with the hip Hop movements and battled on that linoleum instead. So Hip Hop actually stopped gang violence instead of fostering it Hummmm….MESSAGE!
No vocals but the music with the images make it even looser
This one has vocals from some members of the Savage Skulls. All I’m going to say is one dude is wearing a German SS helmet, a dude climbing up the building like spidey, and the scheme with a kid on crutches to steal boxes from a truck literally called “MEAT”
You can’t make this stuff up
Peep our throwback to Old New York with the Sneaker Gangs of New York Tee on our online store minus the leather vest, and studed wristbands
Wow…. this was when I first started to see Hip Hop and its mass appeal cross over to Big Business. You had Isiah Thomas, Kevin McHale, Mark Aguire, Magic, and Bird all doing a rap??? My favorite however was to see Bernard King! My man dropped that 50 like it was nothing. I can’t lie I was (and still am sorry to say) a NY Knickerbockers Fan but I was one of those dudes rocking the Black Celtic joints. So stroll down memory lane and enjoy!
Homie’s reach expands across continents and vast bodies of water. He has touched and influenced everything from eastern / western art to fashion design, pop-culture, anime, sculpture and magna. Takashi Murakami, a Japanese born artist extrodinaire, is a straight beast! We all may not have been previously exposed to Murakami’s artistic genius, but for my fellow New Yorker’s as well as those who will be in NYC between April 5th & July 13th, 2008, make that trek out to the Brook and check duke’s work out! You won’t be disappointed.
